JSM Cloud form dropdown filter

Jonathan Samuel Perfecto Del Villar December 11, 2024

In a JSM Cloud form, using two dropdown fields each mapped to a Jira Field.

I want to know if there's away to filter the list of options of Field B based on the value select on Field A.

For example:

  • If Field A has option one selected, then Field B only shows 7 options.
  • If Field A has option two selected, then Field B only shows 3 options.

We had to use Assets to solve this issue.

Hi @Jonathan Samuel Perfecto Del Villar ,

I'm setting up Assets and am curious if you're using any external sync automation, like automatically syncing between Jamf and Assets when a computer is added/updated.

Hi @Rodney Estrada, sure we did the following:

  • Created the schema in Assets
  • Added the objects with its attributes.
  • After the Assets configuration is ready
  • We created an Jira Asset field and mapped to the schema/objects.
  • In the form we added an Assets object/s type field and mapped it to the Jira field.

Hope this helps!

Are the objects being added by automation via API? E.g. automatically importing objects from Jamf to Assets via API?

I'm specifically working on a way to integrate and/or automate Jamf and Intune with Assets.

Hi @Jonathan Samuel Perfecto Del Villar, Welcome to the community!

It is not feasible to filter the list of options in Field B based on the value selected in Field A.

But as a workaround, you can create a select list cascading field and use that field in the form.

Sounds like a good, but how do I mapped the value of the parent and child options to the actual Jira fields?

Parent choice > Field A
Child choice > Field B

Or can I use an automation to get those values from the form cascading field?

Appreciate the help!
