In Bulk import for Jira:
I cannot set a value for the request type while bulk importing to a JSM project. Does anyone have a workaround? If there is no request type then an external client has no visibility of the ticket. The fix for this has been to go through each ticket and change the value manually, which eats up time.
Thanks,
-Nate
You need to pass the Request Type ID in the CSV and map for Request Type field when you're finishing your import. Also is important map the Issue Type reference of the Request Type.
It works fine.

Thank you Fernando, How do I find these IDs in my project?

I'm guessing it's this numerical value from the URL after looking at some other postings.

I think my problem here is that there is no option to set the request type field in the bulk import dialog. That field is not an option. I can set summary, desc, priority, and a lot of other things, but I can't set request type.

Here are all the Jira fields I can set, but request type is not listed.

To import the Request Type you need to go through Jira's global administration interface.
Click on the administration gear icon > Click on 'Systems' > Select the option "External System Import" > Select the CSV format > Add the file and map the fields.
You can map the Request Type field this way using the dID as a reference.
To find Request Type ID go to Project Settings > Request Type > Select your Request Type and look the number on the URL. This number is Request Type ID.
