Is it possible to show when emails were sent and to whom in the activity section?

It would be nice to know when the Jira Service Desk software was actually attempting to send an email to the reporter, watchets, participants, etc.. and what changes initiated them in case we have a setting that's preventing the send.  Currently our activity log does not show an "emailed x" or "emailed x, y, z"

Dear @freklane,

for JSD Server, you can increase the log level of the mail package. Then you could trace the outgoing mails in the log files.

Showing this in the activity stream would breach the privacy concept. Email addresses are revealed for all. Normally a mapping between username <-> email is only possible for administrators.

This may not be a problem for a company intranet JSD, but as soon as WORLD can access, its is.

Thomas,

Unfortunately, only a few people have access to the logs for the mail package.  I'm not necessarily concerned about showing what email address a message was sent to but that an indicator for the Agent working on the ticket that their comment or change the ticket resulted in an email being sent to "reporter" or "assignee" or everyone associated with the ticket.  We had this feature in a past ticketing system and it was very useful when trying to determine why someone had not responded.  Usually, because an email checkbox was not populated.

Thanks,

Kevin

Dear @freklane,

I understand your need. I do not know of such kind of a feature. This would need an extension of the JSD functionality. A kind of email-sent-conformation service, that also reports back, eg.  the opposite email server has declined your email.

Currently it is fire-and-forget. If you are an admin, you could see int he outgoing mail queue, if a mail got stuck - bit not a normal user.

If there is not already a plugin available, you could either do it on your own or 'suggest' a new feature at https://jira.atlassian.com.

So long

Thomas
