This highly depends on what info do you want to display. Jira has native dashboard gadgets that you could use. Some examples are Two Dimensional Filter Statistics gadget, Issue Statistics gadget, Filter Results gadget or Pie Chart gadget.
If these are not enough, you can add more gadgets by installing a plug-in from Atlassian Marketptace. In case you wan to try a plugin, our Great Gadgets app offers many gadgets for that support custom queries.
