Configure Service Desk for regular customer updates

I'm looking for a way to update SD tickets every 30 minutes with a current status. Is this trivially doable?

Hmm, not sure what you're asking. By current status, do you mean one of the status in the ticket's workflow? Do you mean update every 30 minutes in some automated manner?
