Hi Team,
when recording time, the field Original estimate and Remaining time is available.
I need another field that does not show me the original estimate but the budget approved in the meantime (budget) as the sum of remaining time and time already spent.
Or if I increase the value in Budget, the new value of the remaining time is calculated.
Is there a field type that I can select for this field? Unfortunately I have not found a suitable one?
Has anyone ever solved such a scenario and if so, how?
Thanks for the support
Best regards
Petra Laier
Hi Petra,
Jira's native functionality doesn't directly support the dynamic budget tracking and time recalculation you're looking for. The "Original Estimate" and "Remaining Estimate" fields primarily serve for time tracking, not financial budgeting.
However, the Time & Cost Tracker for Jira add-on can help you achieve this. It introduces the concept of Planned Budget which can be set within cost reports. You can then track the Remaining Budget in real-time as your team logs work. The add-on also allows you to track Planned Time and Remaining Time within time reports, offering a comprehensive view of your project's time and budget utilization.
Here's how to set it up:
Install the Time & Cost Tracker add-on.
Generate a Cost Report:
Track Progress:
Generate a Time Report:
By utilizing the Planned Budget and Planned Time features in Time & Cost Tracker, you can effectively monitor your project's financial and time-related progress, ensuring you stay within budget and on schedule. The add-on's real-time calculations and clear visualizations provide the insights you need to make informed decisions and keep your projects on track.
Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Yevdoymova,
is it possible to add customer fields in the log time entry window and show them in a report?
Is it possible to create individual customer reports over the Jira and custom fields?
We have to create a report with specific customer fields to import the date at the month end into our company official time reporting.
Best regards
Petra

Hi, @Laier, Petra
Yes, you can incorporate custom Jira fields into your Time Reports, providing the tailored insights you need for your company's time reporting.
Here's how it works:
Generate a Time Report within Time & Cost Tracker
Than you can export this report with all Jira fields you wanna include.

Welcome to the community. Based on my experience, it is not possible out of the box, you will need to have a third party add-on such as Scriptrunner for Jira to create custom scripted field -
https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/6820/scriptrunner-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
https://docs.adaptavist.com/sr4jc/latest/features/scripted-fields
Hope this helps.

Hi Petra,
From what it sounds like, you are basically wanting to rename the Original Estimate field to Budget. Is that correct?

Hi John,
that's one of the points yes. This would solve also our task.
Is this possible? I didn't find a way to do so.

No that will not be possible to rename as it is a system field and is locked.
