Hi,
Getting very technical but here's me question:
There is an article https://developer.atlassian.com/server/jira/platform/creating-automation-rule-components/ on "Creating automation rule components" but I am out of my depth on it! I could take some time and make sense of it but I was wondering if anyone's already been down this path and can assist me as I only have a small requirement.
Specifically, in the article "Step 5. Create your ‘if’ condition" I want an additional option for the IF "User type" so I can select "Reporter" (currently only is/is not customer or is/is not agent or no access. So I want "if user is reporter (of this issue)".
So can I do just that using the info in this article and can I do just this small part or do I have to go through the whole thing. Has anyone every done such?
I just don't want to spend a long time learning and doing the work in this article only to find it could be done with just 3 lines of code or cannot be done at all. Actually from scanning the article I am pretty sure it can be done. BUT do I have to do this whole article or is just Step 5 or just a part of step 5 all I need. Or even better does anyone have one they've previously done that I can just customise for my need?
Anyone game to answer that?!
Cheers
Glenn
PS: Yes I did look at the Developers Forum but (a) it doesn't look to frequented, and (b) you have to sign up as a developer to post in the forum, - so I didn't.
Hello,
You can not choose Reproter for User Type. But you could use the "If Matches" condition and then choose Current User for the Reporter field.
Hi Alexey,
Yes I know you cannot - out-of-the-box - choose Reporter as User Type - which is why I was asking about "Creating automation rule components" because per that you can "roll your own" and basically make anything you want.
But oh my ... I see, you *can* do a "reporter in (currentUser())" using "If Matches"! Brilliant. I didn't know that was the syntax. Works a charm! Thank you very much! Problem solved. No need to code my own "If" options! Phew.
