Unable to auto-populate JPD text fields

Hi:

I have an automation to send data to JPD from Jira but other than the drop down categories, I cannot populate JPD fields with data and that is mainly the text fields. I have not tried data or number fields. The data does not pass through other than for the Issue Summary system field and Drop down fields like Category.

If the problem is text field type, can you please go ahead and enable matching Jira text field types with JPD? That would be a game changer to enable use. And that means including paragraph fields in JPD. 

At any event, any ideas on how I might do this to automate sending text data from Jira to same named JPD text fields would be great.

For a question like this, context is important for the community to help.  Please post the following:

  • an image of your complete automation rule in a single image for continuity,
  • images of any relevant actions / conditions / branches,
  • an image of the audit log details showing the rule execution, and
  • explain what is not working as expected and why you believe that to be the case.

Until we see those...

If your rule is copying data from a Jira Software Project (or Business Project) issue to a JPD Idea and the field data is not copying, there are several possible causes:

  • the rule scope is incorrect (i.e., a single-project scope rule cannot access / update issues in other projects, other than to create new issues in them)
  • the rule actor does not have permissions to update the fields (i.e., they might need JPD Creator permissions to change some fields)
  • the field name, smart value, or custom field ID is incorrect for the destination field
  • the field is one of the JPD fields which can only be updated with the JPD code from the UX
