Slow performance

I really like using the discovery board and all its features, but my god is it slow. All screens take a lot of time to load, every click I do takes a lot of time to load. It's close to being unworkable actually.

Adding a fast comment to an idea after I learned something? Nope, takes 15 seconds before I get to the right screen to add the comment. We have about 450 ideas and some custom fields, nothing too heavy I would think.

Does anyone else encounter this? Is there something I should take into account?

Hi @Mohamed Kadi , there are a combination of factors that can impact performance (it's usually a combination of field types in specific configurations in views - e.g. "people" field and boards with group by with a lot of ideas, stuff like that)

We have started a team to investigate and fix these performance problems and they've already started shipping improvements.

What would be super helpful is 2 things:

  1. if you could record a screen recording of the performance issues you're facing and send it to tcrusson@atlassian.com: we can look at it to see if we're already working on things that will improve the performance for you
  2. We could diagnose the issues directly in your site. If you're OK with that, can you raise a support ticket ? From the app: Give feedback > Get help from the support team, and paste "Tanguy Crusson has asked me to create a support ticket so we can give the JPD team access to our site so they can investigate performance issues we're facing". We've done that with other users in the past and it was much faster to get to the root cause of performance problems.

This applies to anyone facing performance problems today!

Cheers,

Tanguy

Hi Tanguy,

Thank you for your fast response! I've given the access, is the recording still needed?

Cheers,
Mohamed

Hi @Mohamed Kadi - thanks! I just tried and the app was really fast (I just shared a recording in the support ticket), so I currently wonder 2 things:

  1. We turned on one of the performance improvements today and I wonder if maybe that fixed it for you (which would be ideal)
  2. Or if it could be based on something that I can't reproduce on my machine (e.g. if you're far from one of our data centers or something?)

Would you mind sending a recording please?

@Tanguy Crusson I am working on Jira integration. I found that Post request to Jira cloud takes about 25 seconds on average and I am trying to improve this.

ex: POST /rest/api/2/issue

I tried to export Jira issue in my project in Excel file and found that there were over 1600 fields exists. I only use 40 of them and was thinking this could be the cause of low performance issue.

Is there any way than I can clean up the fields that I do not use?  Does this improve the response time for post request?

If this is not a right way to improve Jira performance, what are the ways that I can improve Jira performance?

My team relies on Jira Could  a lot and really suffered from performance issue.

Thank you in advance.

We also experience a lot of lag.  Most of our users are on Chrome browsers, but some of the team have recently switched to Edge and found it to be much less laggy

Have you considered using the insights chrome extension?  That way you can add comments on the fly.
