Is it possible to require adding a comment when transitioning an Idea to a specific status?
I want to ensure a reason is captured when a Creator transitions an Idea to a 'Won't implement' status.
Even if it's impossible to require it, I would at least like to ensure it's highlighted as a reminder.
Thanks
Hello Dana,
Jira Product Discovery projects are team-managed projects, in which you don't have the concept of screens. I guess that's something you could also set up as a workflow transition "properties" but same here, workflows of team-managed projects are "lightweight" and do not let you put these types of restrictions.
The only workaround I could think of would be to create an automation rule, that creates a comment with an @mention, or sends an email to that person to remind them to fill this field.
If you create a specific field for this reason, you can even check that this field is empty before creating the comment/email.
Cheers,
Hermance
Thanks for the reply.
Perhaps a future enhancement...?
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
If we had manual transitions with additional information, we could do this... But alas..

You can use "Transition Screen" on the specific transition where you want to enforce adding a comment.

I couldn't find this option as part of the rules or automation for Jira Product Discovery.

@Dana Weinbaum , Sorry I didn't noticed that this question was related to Jira Product Discovery. I don't think Jira Product discovery supports this at present.
