Hiya,
We're finding JPD is getting us great cut through with stakeholders across the business in terms of being able to highlight options against different criteria/goals. The timeline view in particular helps put activity in context and to demonstrate some of the sequencing of ideas that is possible depending on our objectives.
One item which would make this more beneficial (and avoid the dreaded replication of the timeline view into powerpoint) would be the ability to have an overlay of calendar events outside of the product itself (such as our broader marketing calendar and other key events). Is this possible?
A further thought would be whether we could maintain this event calendar view at a master level (i.e. at the organisational level we could have a calendar view which could be "turned on" to overlay on any timeline, be this in JPD or Jira Advanced Roadmaps or other).
Cheers,
Mark
We don't natively support adding events to the timeline in Jira Product Discovery. However, one workaround is you could create an idea for each key event and include it in the filter for the timeline view. It ain't pretty, but it might get the job done if the information is critical to show!
That is what we have done but you're right, it's not pretty and then doesn't stretch across multiple discovery projects or indeed into Jira.
We felt it was a missed opportunity to have a universal event view that could sit across both discovery and jira projects, so as to aid everyone understanding the environment they are working in more broadly - one to add to your discovery board perhaps!
