I am trying to link assets to the roadmap items on JIRA Product Discovery. I am unable to see any options to add a customer Assets reference field.
Any suggestions on an alternate approach to achieve the same outcome?
@Hermance NDounga Can you give an update to this? Is this planned or is there a way to collaborate on this?
We have all our customers as assets. We really enjoy having a data model in assets that connects CRM data to other parts of our business. Asset APIs let us synchronise from and to external system which is incredibly useful. E.g. we have also have Person as a data object which can be associated with a company and labeled as e.g. a technical contact with respect to a device we integrate. These connections lets us display so much useful data right in the jira issue, which is a real game changer.
This also holds us back introducing JPD. Our ideas need to be connected to those customer jsm assets as all our queries use this. Not being able to being able to link ideas to the customer base we have in JSM assets is a real downer. So we really need custom fields that can link an asset, like in jira.
If we introduced JPD now, we would have to recreate the customer list in JPD. Doing this manually totally would not work for us, but a workaround that lets us synchronise at least the customer names would help.
Hey Sundeep,
Are you referring to the Asset field from Jira Service Management? If yes, then its not possible to use a field from another product in Jira Product Discovery. We will explore later on this year how we want to reference other fields in Jira Product Discovery.
If you are referring to something else please let me know :)
Cheers
Hermance

How soon will Asset fields be available for JPD? It is essential to be able to link assets to ideas. The assets could hold customers, opportunities, or account information that would help us prioritize ideas.
Is there an issue we can vote on for this maybe or an estimated time it will be released? It is a blocker for our team to implement JPD.

Same for me. We can see many benefits in using JPD in our organization, but without the ability to use our current Asset fields it will be difficult because we would need to maintain / synchronize our central asset information redundantly within JPD.
I can use the global fields (Jira) within JPD but unfortunately it lacks the asset field functionality.
If your roadmap for JPD includes the future possibility for Asset Fields i would be happy if you could let us know so we can adjust our plans
