Hello,
My team and I have just started using Jira Product Discovery. When our admin granted us permission to use the tool, we started exploring the automatically created placeholder project and realized we cannot do anything on the discovery project.
Without the right permissions, somehow (I don't think I can even reproduce the steps), we managed to create a project.
The only thing we could edit were the project settings, which are set like this:
The most curious thing is that, on the Access page, even though our Admin initially let us use the app - it says that neither of us has the product access and we cannot change our role from Contributor to Creator.
Our Admin is baffled and doesn't know what action he needs to take in order to resolve this.
Could someone help us out with this problem and what do we specifically need to do to enjoy creator rights and freely assign contributors so that we can start using the tool? Thanks!
Hi Stefan!
Based on your screenshots, it seems you have the right to create projects (at the level of the site) but you don't have been granted a license for Jira Product Discovery - as I see your product role is "Contributor" and not "Creator".
In that sense, you have the "project-level" rights on this project you've created, but nothing more.
To solve this, your admin can grant you product access in two different ways:
Under user management, and your profile, check the box for Jira Product Discovery.
Or under Product access, add you to one of the group that are mentioned under "Jira Product Discovery".
You can learn more about the different types of users here : https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Product-Discovery-articles/The-different-types-of-users-Creators-Contributors-and/ba-p/2378354

I believe your admin needs to go into the global user management settings and grant you access to the discovery product, like so:
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
+1 to @Ted . Here are the steps which need to be performed by the site admin:
On the top nav bar, select ⚙️ > User Management > Directory
Search for a particular user and click the name
Grant product access by clicking Add products > under Jira Product Discovery click User, check User and click Grant.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
To be more specific:
Add a user to the JPD User role if you want to give them admin / creator rights on JPD. Keep in mind that JPD is free up to three people with this role.
Select the JPD Contributor role in other cases -> this role is free and you can add an unlimited amount of users.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
Hmm, I have a user which I did grant Product access like you say @Rohan Swami but when I go to the JPD project and try to grant Creator access it says his product role is contributor and there is a red warning sign saying he still does not have product access. So even though I gave him both admin and creator ROLE it doesn´t seem to work...

@Ellen Daleng This means the user doesn't have User access to Jira Product Discovery. Please check by going to Admin > Directory > Users. Select the user and check their product roles. If you're having issues you can reach me at rswami@atlassian.com

But he does - exactly as in the screenshot you provide... he is a user of Jira Product Discovery.

@Ellen Daleng Please send screenshots of what you're seeing in the Admin directory (as per above) and also Jira Product Discovery project settings through to rswami@atlassian.com and I will help you resolve this.
