How to make a non-number field from Salesforce populate in JPD?

We are using the default Salesforce integration available with JPD, but are running into some limitations. By adding a Salesforce link as an insight to a submitted Idea, we are only able to map the SF "number" fields to a "custom formula" JPD field. This limitation is mentioned in the help article on this integration

The problem is we have a lot of non-number fields we want to automatically pull in from the insight, like our Account IDs. So without some "custom formula" field, we have to manually copy and paste these values for each use case. 

Is there any clever way around this non-number limitation that anyone has figured out?
