How to aggregate ideas by category in Timeline view in Jira Product Discovery?

Damian Trutkowski February 6, 2025

In Jira Product Discovery, I have four ideas - three belong to the same category, and one belongs to a different category. Is there a way to display categories with their aggregated timeframes instead of individual ideas in the Timeline view?

For example, I would like my Timeline view to show two lanes:

  • Category 1 from January to June 2025
  • Category 2 from January to February 2025

Is there a way to achieve this?Zrzut ekranu 2025-02-06 192042.png

Hi there, we're working on something related to this: idea hierarchies

Hello,
thank you for your response.

Have you considered implementing a simple solution where grouping by a specific field (e.g., category, label, etc.) would display a time range bar for that group?

  • Start: The start time of the earliest idea
  • Stop: The end time of the latest idea

The example below illustrates this. This straightforward solution would achieve the result I’m looking for.
