Users cannot see projects

Hi,

we have added new users in Confluence Administration > Users Management > Users

They have managed to login and see the main Confluence dashboard, but they cannot see any project. We have added them in the projects through one of the groups they are part of (Project > People > Add group).

I am the site admin but when I try to add their individual emails I get the message "you can only invite people with XXX email address. Contact your site admin to invite other people". 

Are we missing something here?
