Single Add Anchor Sprint - Dates over ride Duration?

Mary Heather Cox January 17, 2023

When creating a new anchor sprint in a PI, using the Single Add, there are fields for the start/finish dates.  And there is another field for Duration.  The duration field can be 5 days, but the actual time between the start and finish could be 20 days for example.

Then, when a sprint from Jira syncs to the Align Anchor sprint, it adopts the duration value of 5 days, but retains the start/finish dates of 20 days.

Are there any metrics or report that use the sprint duration?

@Mary Heather Cox Yes.  There are reports/calculations such as financial calculations and capacity, that use the duration on the sprint.  I recommend using the Mass Add option even when just adding a single sprint.  Mass add will ask you for the start date and the duration. Once the anchor sprint is created, check to make sure the end date is correct.  If it isn't correct, don't just change the dates on the anchor sprint because just changing the dates doesn't affect the duration.  If the end date isn't correct (e.g. you wanted 20 days rather than 5), immediately delete the anchor sprint.  There is an open Bug on this issue that you can sign up to watch:  https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JIRAALIGN-3295

Note:  Although the bug refers to affecting the calculation for the PI Allocation Report, it also affects the items I listed above as well.
