I am exploring the 'setup' settings for Enterprise Insights within Align. I have already connected to EI outside of this 'setup' section. What exactly am I seeing in the list under the 'firewall rules' section and 'users' sections?
There are rows that appear to be pulling from our existing firewall exception list? If I was to create a 'new rule' I have to use my public IP address. If I never connected to EI before, that IP would not be NAT'd anywhere yet?
And where is the list coming from the 'Users section? I added myself as a test and a 'welcome email' was sent. I'm waiting to see what that says as my firewall team has not whitelisted Atlassian tenant address yet...
Many Thanks in advance!
@Joe The firewall rules section is for managing your public IP address ranges that are allowed to access Enterprise Insights. The IP addresses that you add must be public and static. You will need to confirm with your networking team on this information because it will depend on how your corporate network is configured. If you see firewall rules in the list, those are existing rules that were set up prior to the release of the EI administration or possibly by another user in your company with Super Admin permissions.
The users section is for setting up access using Microsoft Entra authentication. If you have added yourself and your received the welcome email, you will need to accept the invitation through the email which has you authentication through Microsoft Entra and your company's SSO. Once you do this, you can connect using a SQL client that supports Microsoft Entra authentication like SQL Server Management Studio, Azure Data Studio or Power BI. Here is my help article on how to connect to Enterprise Insights using Microsoft Entra authentication (f.k.a. Azure Active Directory). https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-Align-articles/Connecting-to-Jira-Align-Enterprise-Insights-with-Azure-Active/ba-p/2101611
