Roles and reponsibilities

Where can I find a document that lists all roles and permissions in Jira Cloud and Jira Align?

Jira Cloud permissions are not inherently role based.  You need to develop permission schemes around the roles in your company and then apply the permission scheme to each project.  Here is a link to the Jira Cloud permissions -> https://support.atlassian.com/jira-service-management-cloud/docs/overview-of-jira-cloud-permissions/

You can create Project Roles or User Groups for your permission schemes.  Manage users, groups, permissions, and roles in Jira Cloud provides good documentation for configuring your specific Jira permission scheme.

For the "Scrum Master" role, you may want to include the following Jira Permissions in your permission scheme:

  • Project Permissions: Browse Projects, Manage sprints
  • Issue Permissions: Assignable, Assign Issues, Close Issues, Create Issues, Edit Issues, Link Issues, Move Issues, Resolve issues, Schedule Issues, Transition Issues

Thanks @Paula Hidalgo , I will have a read and reply back with questions if needed.

Hi @James Bueno ,

Jira: I can't speak to the Jira side of the house. To my knowledge Jira Cloud has user role, admin role, project admin, and maybe a few others. They are not agile aligned roles to my knowledge.

Jira Align: Align has system roles and team roles.

  • Team roles are built-in and pre-defined to control what a user can do on a particular team they are assigned.
  • System roles are custom configured per client implementation and control what menu items a user see in the left nav..

Regards,
Peter

Thanks @Peter Jessen, this helps a ton!
