How Jira Kanban project's Story maps to Kanban team in Jira Align; pls suggest

Edited

We have Jira and Jira Align integration done.

We have created a Kanban project in Jira & it has been mapped to Jira Align via

1) Jira Settings->Manage Project (Added the Jira Kanban project)

2) Jira Integration->Projects (Added Jira Kanban project)

We have created a Kanban Team in Jira Align.

My question is how a Story from Jira Kanban project gets assigned to the Kanban team in Jira Align?

In case of Jira Scrum project, we add Scrum Board  & map it to Agile team via (Jira Management->Jira Boards)

Do we need to add Kanban board & map it to Kanban team via (Jira Management->Jira Boards) similar to Jira Scrum project; pls. confirm or is there any other way to Map Jira Kanban project to Jira Align Kanban team?

@Vinay Sharma

Boards must be mapped in order for the data to flow to the Jira Align team.

Since Jira doesn't *ACTUALLY* have a "team" (it's a field, at best, when set up) the board is what is used to indicate the Team to Jira Align.

Here's an easy way to remember it:

Project = Backlog (which may be shared)

Board = Team (the work being done in a sprint or kanban flow by a select group of people -aka the Team)

A project may exist to serve one or more "teams" but the teams WORK from the jira board, not the project. ....  make sense?
