Managing Dependencies with Jira Align

A dependency is a service or component that a team needs to deliver functionality but cannot create for themselves. Dependencies function as agreements between teams who are responsible for ensuring that commitments are agreed upon and that work is completed punctually.

In Jira Align, our customers create dependencies between teams, programs, and external entities. Many of them use dependency management to ensure teams are working together to ensure work is completed on time. Based on our customer experience, I created a short overview video of Dependency Management in Jira Align. Let me know how your team thinks about managing dependencies in a scaled agile environment!

Hello @Sid Narang

Is it possible to export or report on the creator and created date of dependencies within Jira Align? Can you please share your insights?

Thank you

Praveena

Praveena, these are excellent questions.

Can you export the list of dependencies? Yes.
Can you report or export on the creator? Yes, as the "dependency requested-from team".
Can you report on the created date? Actually, we've found that though the created date is captured, it's less relevant than when you need the dependency resolved or if you're blocked.

If you want a report to know specifically who created the dependency or specifically when the dependency was created (maybe you want to see aging dependencies), you can create reports that display that data by using our products Enterprise Insights, in combination with Atlassian Analytics or your choice of BI reporting platforms.

Best Regards,

Derek

Can we update the Depends On field when a dependency hasn't been Committed to yet?
