Jira Connector - Feature sync failure "Components is required"

Environment:
Jira Align connected and syncing with an instance of Jira.

Situation:

• A newly created Feature in Jira Align fails to create a corresponding Epic in Jira.

• No errors are seen in the Jira Align audit logs for the feature.

• Jira Align support sees the following API error on the backend:

ResponseContent:{"errorMessages":[],"errors":{"components":"Components is required."}}, JsonErrors:components=Components is required.

What does this mean?:

• "Components" has been set to a required field on the Jira project that Jira Align is attempting to sync with. The Jira connector API call to create the Jira Epic does not include a Component entry, which causes the API call to fail.

• Components is not a supported field within the Jira connector.

What to do?:

• Remove or make this Jira custom field not required since there is no corresponding Jira Align field that it can be mapped to.

Nice concise article. I see this issue way too often when we integrate Jira Align with Jira.

The obvious answer is to have a proper two-day Jira Align Implementation Kick-Off event with one outcome being a well-documented standard for all Jira projects that will map to Jira Align.
