It seems like every few years I get the question, "Why are you working in education?"  In most cases, it is in the context of me having a better career elsewhere or doing more by working outside of education.  I really do not care what others think about my career path have been very content working in education.  My main reason for working in education has been the impact that I can have on helping others.  This has been a driving force behind the work I have done in all my education positions.

What's your reason for working in education?

On top of helping others you also can improve your skills. You approach a topic from a completely different angle when you have to explain it to students and answer questions you never thought of yourself. I'm working part time in education in the field I'm also working in. And my impression is, that I'm more professional in those fields where I also teach. So in the end I have a financial payback and in addition I also can help others. Hence for me, working in education is a win-win situation.

Hi @Brant Schroeder ,

Loved to see such posts in community. I had experience working in Education and I can relate to that feeling and I think we should not compare with others. If an individual is happy and satisfied then it matters most.

Education is kind of ocean and learning new things and help others to learn are significant milestones.

Cheers
