New Snyk integration brings DevSecOps capabilities to Jira Software Cloud

The Snyk team is excited to be working with Atlassian to help secure your code from development to release for developers using Jira Software Cloud. The new Snyk app, available through the Atlassian early access program, brings vulnerabilities into the context of developer sprints so Jira users can prioritize issues, minimize errors, and align security work with production sprints. This means issues in open source dependencies previously only exposed in Snyk are visible within Jira to enable security and development teams to collaborate in a single unified pane.

This new Atlassian Demo Den video shows new DevSecOps capabilities in Jira Software. Atlassian Product Designer, Open DevOps Nupar Aggarwal explains how the powerful integration with Snyk brings security triaging rituals to Jira to help developers, operations and security experts to collaboratively review vulnerabilities. She shows how you can create Jira issues and add them to upcoming sprints. Context and prefilled information from Snyk makes it far easier to resolve issues much faster.

We also had the chance to preview this new integration recently at the Atlassian Unleash event in Berlin. Snyk Engineering Manager Lilla Mészáros showed a demo of the Snyk Security for Jira Software Cloud integration and explained how it will automatically associate vulnerabilities with issues and assign issues in the security tab in Jira. Details like when the vulnerability was introduced, how severe it is, and what type it is will lead to smarter triaging decisions.

Instead of seeing security as a bottleneck in the software development process, this integration delivers a comprehensive view of an organization's security posture to reduce organizational risks. Apply to the Atlassian early access program for a “Snyk” peek into these new DevSecOps capabilities.
