UBI Based Atlassian DC Container Images Released

We're excited to announce a significant update that will enhance the security and compatibility of our Atlassian Data Center (DC) products for customers running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) hosts, including OpenShift environments. Our new Data Center product images will now be tagged based on Universal Base Image (UBI) from Red Hat, incorporating the latest advancements in security and system compatibility. Ubuntu based aren't going anywhere and we'll continue publishing them.

The switch to UBI means that our images are built on a solid, secure foundation. UBI is maintained and supported by Red Hat, ensuring that the images receive regular security updates and patches.

For those of you running on RHEL hosts or leveraging the power of OpenShift for container orchestration, this update brings a host of benefits. The compatibility with UBI allows for smoother operations and deployments, ensuring that Atlassian DC products work seamlessly within your Red Hat environment.

All UBI based tags come with a Red Hat build of OpenJDK17 which automatically configures itself to run in a FIPS mode if the host enforces FIPS.

UBI tags are available for the following products and versions:

UBI tags are available in 2 formats: '<version>-ubi9' and '<version>-ubi9-jdk17'.

Your feedback is invaluable to us, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any support or UBI tags for older product versions.
