Hi Data Center Community,
I’m excited to share that Bamboo Data Center 9.6 will be our next Long Term Support (LTS) release for Bamboo, planned for Q1 calendar year 2024.
LTS releases contain backported bug fixes to provide improved security, stability, and the top admin and user value inclusive of all the features released since the previous Bamboo LTS release. If you manage complex systems that require careful planning and infrequent upgrades, we recommend planning to upgrade to Bamboo 9.6 when it becomes available.
Learn more about LTS releases.
Bamboo’s 9.6 LTS release will include all features shipped since the last LTS release, Bamboo 9.2. With this release, you'll recognize features in core value areas including but not limited to:
Ephemeral Kubernetes agents: Enjoy on-demand scalability and stronger security by starting each agent in a fresh environment. Use as many agents as needed at a given moment so that you don’t waste computing resources and other costs with idle agents. (9.3)
Improved change detection performance: Use the new change detection algorithm to optimize resource distribution across multiple repositories and prevent thread pool exhaustion issues. (9.3)
Better security with user session invalidation: Invalidate user sessions directly from the administrative settings page or through the REST API. (9.3)
Connect to Atlassian cloud products with application tunnels: Securely connect Bamboo with other Atlassian cloud products using application tunnels and eliminate the need to open up your network to incoming connections. (9.3)
Further, to help make Bamboo more accessible for all users, Bamboo 9.6 will also include:
Added missing ARIA roles
New alternative text
Labels for page elements
Updated legacy components with new, more accessible elements
Remember, the Bamboo LTS will also include every feature released between now and 9.6, so follow along with the Data Center roadmap, as well as the Bamboo release notes to see all the features that will be included. Bug fixes and security improvements coming with this LTS release can also be found in the release notes.
Thanks for being part of our community!
