Fresh installation of Crowd v3.0.1. Setup looks good but as soon as it completes and redirects to login form, all styling is broken. Tested with Chrome and Firefox. Deleted all data and re-installed from scratch with same results. Screenshot shows encoding issues. No errors in catalina.out. Any suggestions?
I am afraid you may be running into a bug which was fixed in Crowd 3.1. It's a compression issue.
Please try the workaround or the alternate workaround on this bug ticket,Tomcat7 produces corrupted gzip response with newest zlib (1.2.11) library, and let us know if Crowd's login page renders properly afterward.
In case misery loves company, I wanted to let you know about this report of the same behavior: Errors loading images/CSS/JS after upgrading to Crowd 3
