Hi Crowd Community,
In light of Google’s announcement to deprecate basic authentication for third-party apps, we will be offering an alternate option to authenticate your emails to Crowd.
Currently, we offer basic authentication in Crowd, however, with this change, apps connected to Google Workspace can no longer be authenticated with a username and password effective September 30, 2024. As a solution, we will offer OAuth 2.0 as an authentication service that will be released with Crowd 6.1.0 by mid-September.
This update will enhance your security and reduce the risk of unauthorized access to accounts.
If you have set up Crowd's mail server with Google Workspace, you can guarantee a smooth Crowd experience by following these steps:
Upgrade Crowd to version 6.1.0 (upon its release).
Set up OAuth 2.0 integration in Google Workspace.
Adjust Crowd's mail server settings to use OAuth 2.0 integration.
The more comprehensive configuration guide will be available on Crowd’s 6.1.0 release.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Feel free to leave a comment if you have any questions.
