(/) works typed into a table, but not pasted

Robin Haynes June 8, 2021

I have a table of user Role permissions.
The original Excel had x to indicate a positive cell
I can type "(/)" or "(+)" or (*g) (without quotes) or any other Emoticon string and it displays fine
I try to paste in my tables with (/) and it's just text.
:(

How can I force it to use the emoticon instead of text?

Hello Robin,

I have found the only workaround for something like this is with a little JavaScript to mimic keystrokes. If you have a lot of Role permissions to add, it may be worth it to use some kind of program which can read the data then mimic the keystrokes such as Selenium IDE. It is intended for testing, but I have used it to enter data.

Regards,

Hyrum
