where should I put my custom authenticator in?

I try to do my custom sso on confluence and wrote my custom authenticator. But after I configured it in seraph-config.xml, confluence failed to start. I found that the custom authenticator I configured in xml file was not found by system in the logs. I put my custom authenticator in confluence_home/confluence/WEB-INF/classes. But it seems not correct. Who can give me a hand about this?

If it is a .jar file it should go in the class path by putting it in WEB-INF/lib.

Please see Single Sign-on Integration with JIRA and Confluence for more details on custom SSO.
