restrict a SpaceAdmin

DKB Service GmbH October 10, 2017

Hi,

we are looking for a solution in our Confluence environment.

So, we have multible Spaces.

example Space "Setpermission"

So, we have one person (or even two) who has all permissions to this Space (incl. Admin/export).

next, we have some Users in this space who are able to create pages, comments, attachments (but not to delete)

So now comes is our goal:

we want, that the spaceadmin is able to manage this space BUT he can not  see / set / change the spacepermissions.

Is there a way to restrict the  SpaceAdmin.

because: ONLY a Confluence Administrator can set SpacePermissions

can anybody help?

Hi Robert,

no, you can't. A Space Admin is allowed to manage a space and that includes also the ability to set space permissions.

You have to trust your space admins.

realy,

it's not a issue about trustment to the SpaceAdmins.

in our company, we have strict guidelines as to permissions.

So my initial Idea was tho hide the menübutton like this (hide "Person Button"

if ($userAccessor.hasMembership('Admin',helper.action.remoteUser.name))

else

    <script type="text/javascript">

    AJS.toInit(function(){

AJS.$('#people-directory-link').hide();

    });

</script>

Your space administrators will always be able to change the permissions on the spaces where they have administration rights.  As Thomas says, you have to trust them.

Javascript won't really help you here, it just changes the front end.  If you want to cripple their space permissions, you will have to change the core code in Confluence to remove their right (which will cause your system administrators a heavier workload, and render you unsupported)
