"Content Encoding Error" after Upgrade to 8.5.x

Atlassian User January 15, 2025

Hi community,

I recently upgraded Confluence Data Centre from 7.13.0 to 7.13.7 - everything went smoothly. No problem.

But after upgrading from 7.13.7 to 8.5.0 I got the

    Content encoding error

An error occurred while trying to connect to atlassian-    playground.mycompany.com:8443.

Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

I then rolled back the changes and tried to upgrade from 7.13.7 to 8.5.18, but the problem persists.

I've already found some topics about DB configuration - we've had this problem before, the collations in the DB are adjusted, everything works. I also found a topic about a similar problem caused by some incompatible apps after the upgrade, but there is no way to launch Confluence Data Center without the apps to test it...

I'm slowly running out of ideas...

Do you have any suggestions or hints as to what might be causing the problem?

Best regards,

Myko
