I have a space and have created a How To Articles page. I would like to create a table of contents. The only work-around I have been able to come up with is to put links to the other pages on the first page of the How To Articles page.

Hi @Richard Bugg , you can add a TOC for a page or you can add a pagetree macro. See if those references help.

Hi @Richard Bugg

To create a table of contents (TOC) for the contents of a single page, use the table of contents macro.

To create a list of child pages for any page, use the Child pages (children display) macro.

And to display the entire page tree... use the Page tree macro. I find this rather counter productive as it basically duplicates the actual tree and offers no UX advantage (this side of hiding the tree).

You can call up any macro by typing / and typing the name of the macro.

Hi @Richard Bugg

Confluence allows us to do that using a table of contents Jack has mentioned.

But if you are looking for ways how to make that not just a list of page titles with links but something more looking more professional visually, e.g. similar to a navigation section, you can try cards. In this article you can read about different tools for adding cards (using Confluence built-in and marketplace apps)

Also, if you want to improve the readability of your how-to articles, you might consider tools that can help you to make your content well-structured and with highlighted key info.

One of them is Content Formatting Macros, which helps to create pages like this one https://kolekti.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/CFMFCC/pages/432078867/How+To+Article. If you have further questions, please let me know, that app was created by my team.
