For a basic website you can use Wordpress, it would also allow you to run a blog on it. It indexes better in search engines, if you self host it then you can have full control over site etc.

Confluence on the other hand might be good choice, if you want to build a knowledge base and link it with JSM (Jira Service Management) portal. This would allow people to find answers thought JSM before they even ask the question, thanks to build in suggestions. Confluence blog posts are not so customisable as Wordpress posts.

On Cloud up to 10 Confluence users and 3 JSM agents this set up would be free, also most of the marketplace apps would be free to use :)

In my oppinion, Confluence is great for share general information. And, I really love it. If you want to share information in blog format, Confluence works great even if you use or not paid features like mentioned in another comments. However, for a website (I hope not be banned), I don't think this would be the best option.

In addition to all the other answers, you can allow for anonymous access to your Confluence site. This will allow everyone with Internet access to find and see your pages and information. You can use add-ons for customisation, but you don't have to.

You can make a simple page with content with like a Word document way-of-working without a lot of effort. If you want to take it further it will take more effort and understanding of the tool.

Hi,

In addition to @Shobi Jan's answer, there are also paid apps in the marketplace that provide pre-defined templates and advanced customizations to build websites.
