create a Employee Directory

Arda Gökcen October 14, 2024

Hello dear Altassian Community,

i would like to create a Employee Directory for my Company.

For Example like this :

Confluence_home_Page.png

This is from the Confluence Homepage. I search about the Template or Confluence App but i didnt' find it.

This is from the official home page of Confluence. I have not found a theme or a Confluence app for this. What is the easiest and fastest way to create such a directory?

Thanks!
Arda

Hi @Arda Gökcen

Welcome to the Atlassian Community! 🎉

To create a directory like the one in the Confluence homepage screenshot, I’d recommend using Aura and/or Mantra.

Here’s how you can use them:

1. Mantra for Employee Profiles and Directory

Mantra offers a People Directory feature that allows you to easily create a searchable directory. Each employee can have a profile with custom fields (skills, department, location, etc.), making it easier for team members to find one another based on expertise, role, or even location.

2. Aura for Formatting and Design

With Aura, you can enhance the look and feel of your directory using Aura Cards or the Dynamic Content Macro.

This makes it possible to design employee profiles with beautiful layouts, giving you full control over color schemes, icons, and images for a more dynamic directory page.

  • Aura Cards

  • Aura Dynamic Content (Pic Org Charts)

If you have any questions, feel free to ask. 😊

Best,
Patricia

Hi @Patricia Modispacher _appanvil_ ,
That's an interesting app!
Let's say for a company that is also using JSM, what are the benefits of the "People Directory" feature in Mantra on Confluence compared to the pre-existing Assets feature in JSM?

Hi Arda,

In Confluence, there may not always be an exact template that fits your case. Feel free to customize a page, and if you are feeling more adventurous, create your own template.

If you are simply asking how to create a three-column view, you can use the "Layouts" macro by typing /layouts on the page.

Additionally, I found a template that might help you kick-start your Employee Directory: Click here

I would be happy to assist you if you need further help.

Hi @Sarp Egemen ,

thanks for your answer to my question, I already know the function with the column view but that would be a lot of work for e.g. 200 employees or more. I am looking for an app that allows me to generate a template for an employee directory. The idea from @Patricia Modispacher _appanvil_  was already on the right track. But I use JIRA products. Is it easy to integrate Mantra into JIRA?

Hi @Arda Gökcen ,

As you mentioned, you are using Jira products. May I suggest trying the Assets feature in Jira Service Management ? It allows you to create objects (in your case, this could be employees), and then you can add your employees to them. Once set up, you can perform complex operations such as emailing employees from specific departments with certain office locations using the powerful AQL.

Let me know what you think

Thats a good idea.

I'll see how I can implement this

Hi @Sarp Egemen ,
I have added Jira Service Management to my Confluence and am not making much progress here. Do you have any knowledge of JSM and could you help me with the employee directory?

Hi @Arda Gökcen ,

Can you tell me more about what you meant by "I added JSM to my Confluence" ?

My suggestion was about an alternative to creating a directory without using any third-party apps, just JSM and Confluence.

In JSM, there is a feature called Assets, which you can use to create a scheme called People (or Employees or any other name) and then add each employee as an object.

If you want to visualize the data in Confluence, you can use the Assets macro and display it on a page.

Check these images:
