change behavior of linked files

Is there a way to change the behavior of attached files when I click on the link? Currently pictures open "in full", documents in some weird attempt of a "preview" that ist mostly broken, but I now have text files of about 1MB that just won't load at all. And no one needs to open them in preview, they are there for downloading them to your PC - so can I somehow provide a link to a file that just downloads instead of unnecessarily opening a "preview" that no one has any use for? Or can I somehow fix the "preview hangs" problem?

It seems that you would need an addon from the marketplace for this, something like an attachment manager.  Unfortunately currently Confluence does not have this capability.
