How to reference attached image in the markdown?
This question is related to these 2 questions from the past - but answers do not seem to be working in 2024:
2. https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/How-to-add-image-in-markdown/qaq-p/1394607
Bit more details below:
External images should be avoided use the following format in markdown
BEST TO BE AVOIDED unless publicly available resources
Example:
![](https://i.ibb.co/ncPSnTF/sample-tech-specs-image.jpg)
For internal attachments - use following format
DOES NOT WORK UNFORTUNATELY:
![](/wiki/download/attachments/4238410304/sample_tech_specs_image.jpeg)
Would highly appreciate help in this matter.
Thanks in advance,
Milan
@Milan Panic Are you using the legacy editor or a third-party app for markdown? According to this page (https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-confluence-wiki-markup/), you can insert markdown in the legacy editor, but:
As with wiki markup, Confluence Cloud will convert your markdown to the rich text editor format. You will not be able to edit your content using markdown.
Hi @Barbara Szczesniak , thanks for the reply.
We are using default editor provided by confluence and its feature insert markdown - I am providing attachments that provides details of the problem. Editing goes like this:
1. Insert markdown
2. Edit Markdown Macro pops up - we populate it with markdown text
3. Upon clicking save it returns to Confluence editor where you have ability to again go in editing
4. Publishing adapts markdown and confluence page to work together.
Problem is that markdown does not show local image attached to the document - and we need this in order to easily sync our code content without using markup language but markdown already avaialble...
We could of course use markup but this is not what we want just because then we need to reformat entire markdown...

@Milan Panic It looks like you are using the Markdown for Confluence app (https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211445/markdown-for-confluence?tab=overview&hosting=cloud).
If you go to this page in the Atlassian Marketplace, you can access their documentation and support, where you might find an answer to your question.
