I manage a Confluence Data Center instance for the organization that I work for. We do not have the ability to use cloud as our information has to be air gapped. I am really excited about Confluence Automation, however was super bummed to see that it isn't offered at all for Data Center and also doesn't show anywhere on the road map. Is it ever coming? And if not, then why?
Hi @Cassie Watson and welcome to the Community.
Based on the information share during Team 24, chances of AI and Automation making it to DC are not great [holds the euphemism sign].
That's such a bummer.. I wonder if its their way of trying to force everyone to convert to cloud for the "better" features (ie. more money). We would never be able to use it, super sad. I use automation a lot for the Jira instance we have. Was hoping for the same on Confluence.

I guess it depends on what do you want to automate - there are apps that offer automation-like functionality on Confluence.
Also to consider is a hybrid setup. For example, your core business will run on DC Jira and Confluence but, for example, you can build your Documentation, Intranet etc. around Cloud.
Chances are that not all users need to have seats on both the DC and the Cloud.
But of course, viability of the hybrid solution is heavily use-case dependent.

I for one stuck a post-it up in Teams 24 saying - "Don't forget DataCenter".
I know and accept the driver for cloud, but anyone needing air gap is in need for these types of features too.
Sadly the marketplace and 3rd party solutions I think are going to be the way fwd e.g. Script Runner for Confluence.
But I do wish us DC peeps got cool updates to beyond dark-mode.
