Hi again folks, @Jeff Barrett @Robert Wen_Cprime_ @Alex Ortiz
I was testing this behavior today, but on another site that I didn't edit any pages and was able to replicate this issue there.
I wanted to update you all that it is not only affecting the my tasks page, but affecting any pages that contain action items and only work after editing the pages to check on or off those and then publish.
This behavior was reported and being tracked here on its progress:
It seems the status is currently Ready for Development, but I wouldn't be able to provide an ETA, as our development team is still working on it.
I hope this helps clarifying why this is happening and that the workaround can help for now, although this is not the ideal.
Regards,
Jessica
I have tested it on my personal site and at first I was able to replicate this, but then I did another test: I waited a bit for the reload page or go to another page.
In my first test, I checked the tasks in my profile > tasks, then almost immediately reloaded the page.
Got the same behavior reported.
After that, I tried reloading the page after a few seconds, it seems like the task checked in the page and also disappeared from the my tasks page as expected.
For the page itself where the task was, I did the same test, with the same "wait" time and the behavior was similar.
That said, could you confirm if you want a few more seconds, the tasks will still disappear like it is happening today?
We have some bugs related to tasks, including the check/uncheck speed and my task page issues, but generally those return an error and the behavior is a bit different.
Let me know if this works or not and depending on the case, we may need to check further on your tasks to understand if could be there something else causing this issue to happen or if we are missing something in our tests.
Regards,
Jessica

Good news: There is a workaround. If you go to the page where the task was captured and you EDIT the page, you can then check the checkbox for the task and then you publish the page. Once the page is published the task will go to the completed section.
The bad news is that I think this is a Confluence bug. I was able to replicate your behavior and I don't think that the workaround is scalable and this should work like intended.
