From the various documentation I found there's mention of using Jira Gadgets / External Gadgets to pull in Jira charts, e.g. the Sprint Burndown or Release Burndown chart. Is this actually possible? I have Confluence Cloud and Jira Cloud connected via Application Link but cannot find such a function. The Jira Issues and Jira Charts macros only use a Jira "filter".
You can use JIRA gadget on the pages of conlfuence cloud. But you need to add them and register the jira gadget feed URL.

Thanks but I have read through those pages without finding an answer. The first link refers to the Conmfluence Administrator needing to register external gadgets, this link takes me to https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf57/registering-external-gadgets-701435565.html which instructs:
The second link discusses registered gadgets which is the problem (I can't register the gadgets to begin) and the last link posted gives a 404 on the blog post :(

The Jira gadgets are available in Confluence Cloud without administrative configuration. To access them, edit a page and choose Other Macros from the + pulldown. Once in the macro picker, choose External Content:

The OP already called that out as the only thing available in the original question. What this thread is asking for are the same abilities to include all the JIRA dashboard gates into confluence which is and has been available for a very very long time in the server editions but not in the cloud editions.

Any news on this problem? I'm trying to get the timesheet gadget from Jira to Confluence and it's apparently impossible, which is ridiculous

This option is not available for Jira / Confluence cloud. I've been trying to do this myself for the past few days until I came across this page:
I hope this helps !
