When I assign a task to someone, do they get an email?

Debbi Crum November 21, 2016

This post (from 2012) says that "When you assign a task to a teammate they’ll receive a notification with a description of the task as well as a link to the Confluence page where it is located...."

I assigned a task to a co-worker to test this, but he didn't receive anything.

We're running Confluence 5.10.8

Follow Randy's excellent troubleshooting suggestions, and also make sure that you have actually assigned the task to the co-worker - they need to be the first user mentioned in the task, and you need to use a mention.

  • Are email notifications getting to any other users?  If not, verify your outbound email settings
  • If this these notifications are only missing for this single user, check the following:
    • Is the email associated with his account correct?
    • Does he have permission to view the space/page that the task was created on?
    • Did the notification get filtered into the user's email spam folder?
