Hi @Aida Cama and welcome to the Community. Atlassian Companion is needed in newer versions of Confluence for editing files in their native app rather than through the browser. You will only have to download the app once and allow it to authenticate as your user to Confluence. Once you have done that you can then select Edit With -> then the file will open in its native app for your editing. Once you select save in the application, the companion app will then prompt you to upload the saved changes. The link below goes over the process as well.

Hi Bryan
Is the Companion app free to use if with licensed versions of Confluence? Are there any licence terms which set this out I could view? (@bryanT)

Atlassian Companion is free and it is included with Confluence as it is a bridge between Confluence and Microsoft documents.

Thanks for the info @Bryan Trummer - ReleaseTEAM . Also, is it still not able to provide seamless opening of same MS files on native desktop apps by multiple users who can make changes and save to same version at the same time as can be done in SharePoint online ?
