Viewing Pages: XML Content Could Not Be Parsed

Confluence Server 7.19

We are currently facing pretty much the same issue that is described here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/confluence-throws-the-xml-content-could-not-be-parsed-error-when-viewing-a-page-333808277.html

We do not have problems with > / > but with < / <

As soon as i add "<" to a page, i cannot save it anymore. It occurs using the editor but also adding a < directly to the source code.

"The content of elements must consist of well-formed character data or markup. (500)"

Pages, where any < occurs, are not displayed anymore. The following error message is displayed:

"Fehler: The XML content could not be parsed. There is a problem at line 43, column 357. Parser message: Unexpected character '=' (code 61) in content after '<' (malformed start element?). at [row, col {unknown-source}]: [43,357]"
The error occurs on pages with macros, but also an pages without macros.
Any ideas on that behaviour?
Thanks in advance.
