Using tel: and sip: hyperlinks

I'm trying to use tel: and sip: hyperlinks in Confluence Cloud. When I create the links in the page editor and test them, they work, but when I save the page, the URI is replaced with a #.

Is there any way to use tel: and sip: links in Confluence Cloud?

@Jonathan Sayce Are you trying to create links that someone can click to initiate a call? I've never tried this.

This section of the documentation (https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/insert-links-and-anchors/#Link-to-an-email-address) describes inserting an email link, but it doesn't mention anything about call links, so I'm not sure if these are supported in Confluence.

Hi @Barbara Szczesniak yes - a tel: link should initiate a call when clicked (normally used on a phone) and a sip: link can be used to open a messaging application - where I work, if I click on a sip: link then it opens MS Teams.

The frustrating thing is that you can create these links in the page editor and they actually work, right up until the point when you save the page, then the links get stripped out and replaced with a #

@Jonathan Sayce as part of the link manager feature in our app Space Content Manager we have created this section in our docs I think you will find useful.

It outlines how to use URLs, emails, phone numbers in Confluence hyperlinks. It doesn't include sip: because we did not think about it, we need to test it. If you have success using sip: please share.
