Using an excerpt in a code snippet

We are using an excerpt Macro from a main page to child pages. This works fine for tables but I am unable to use an excerpt in the code snippet that is available on every child pages. Is there a possibility to use the same excerpt also in the code snippet? This will result in a lot less redundancy.
