Hi,
we have a Confluence instance with several hundred users. I've installed Lively Theme (for it's blog/news page), and also 'Better Blogs' plugin to sign up groups to our blogs. We've just turned this on, and teams are starting to blog, but instead on receiving one email notification when a Blog is published, our users receive two emails, a minute or two apart.
We have a very locked-down Confluence site that uses multiple groups in permissions. These groups could include groups that include other groups. I'm wondering if that is possibly a reason users are getting two email notifications instead of one?
Anyone had a similar problem with multiple email notifications with 'better blogs' or 'nested groups'? Just trying to find the fault.
Using 6.9.1 Server Confluence, "Lively Theme" and "Better Blogs".
Hello there Ken!
Interesting behaviour you have at hands. I have tested this situation and was able to replicate.
This does not seem to stem from the fact that the user is present in more than one group that is inserted in the watchers list. Notes about the behaviour:
- This is was not present when a user from the watchers group was directly inserted in the watchers list
- The emails were limited to two, even if the user was present in more than two groups
- This is also present if the user is registered in only one of the groups marked as watcher
- This is not present when the user email settings do not have the Watch all blog posts marked
- This is present when the user email settings does have the Watch all blog posts marked
- This is not present if the user is only watching the blog, without the Watch all option enabled
- This is present when the user email settings does have the Watch all blog posts marked and the user is present in only one group
For short:
- The issue is present when the user has selected the Watch All Blog Posts option under Profile > Settings > Email
The affected users can try disabling the Watch All Blog Posts option under Profile > Settings > Email.
Ken, let the community know if this helps you out!
