Underscore character in a {noformat} block is not visible in Chrome/FireFox

Ola Mattsson September 8, 2011

I have added a number of {noformat} blocks in my wiki pages and if the text in these block contain an underscore character '_' it (the underscore) will not show up in the View tab if you browse it with Chrome or FireFox. It works in IE 8 though.

I have three images of the block {noformat}There_are_underscores_between_these_words!{noformat} used as an example

  • Firefox Firefox
  • Chrome Chrome
  • IE8 IE8

Only IE8 shows the underscores but it messes up the alignment of the border and background color instead

Is it a stylesheet setting that cause this behaviour? Can I override it somehow?

My wiki pages are hosted on a Confluence 2.5.4 Build:#809 inhouse server and I am not allowed to upgrade it

Just for the record, it's relatively an ancient bug :0
