Unable to import XML space to Confluence Cloud exported earlier from Confluence Server

Yash Beriwal August 18, 2022

I had exported one of the spaces in my confluence server instance in zipped xml format. When I'm trying to import this space in my cloud instance I'm getting an error - 'Could not locate exportDescriptor.properties in the archive'.

In my exported space I'm unable to find this file.

Below is the content of my exported space. Under the DCP (my space name) folder I can find attachments, images and html files.

I'm not able to use the migration assistant app as I'm not having the admin privileges. Is there a way to perform the migration from server to cloud apart from space export/import and the migration assistant app?

@Yash Beriwal , I just did a quick test and I can see the exportDescriptor.properties file inside the directory. You might want to create another export file and check.

Hi @Yash Beriwal ,

Welcome to Atlassian support.

If the Confluence importer doesn't find the exportDescriptor.properties file at the root of the zip file (not in a folder), it will throw that error. Since you do not have this file itself in the directory i think the export operation did not complete file or the export file might be corrupt.

Thanks,

Srinath T
