URL redirect without changing DNS records

We have successfully migrated from our on-prem server environments to the Cloud. We have quite a few pages calling out JIRA tickets on our old on-prem environment that no longer work.

Is there a way to make Confluence redirect those link to the new JIRA cloud instance? I am looking for a way to perform this within the system and NOT via DNS.

Our old-on-prem systems were constantly under attack from "bad actors" trying to gain access to our systems. I do not want to redirect all traffic to the old instance to our new instance.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

Hello @Mike Bell

Can you clarify the following:

  1. Did you migrate both Jira and Confluence to the Cloud?
  2. What is the source of the links you are trying to redirect; Confluence on-prem, Confluence Cloud, individuals' saved browser links, or some other source (like another app)?

Yes, both Products were migrated from on-prem to cloud.

The links are embedded linked in both Jira and Confluence. The point to Jira tickets originally located on our on-prem Jira. Obviously now, the links still point to the, no longer existing, Jira on-prem instance.

Thanks,

Mike

If you are trying to update the links in Jira Cloud to point to Confluence Cloud pages, and the links in Confluence Cloud to point to Jira Cloud issues, please refer to these articles:

Thanks Trudy. This seems to be the way to go. I have a follow up question...

My prod Confluence instance does not show in Product Links' section, but my dev Confluence instance does. (All Jira does). Any idea about that?

Is your Confluence production Cloud instance in the same Organization?

Did you migrate the content using the Confluence Cloud Migration Assistant? This option works only for Jira and Confluence products where you used the Cloud Migration Assistant to execute the migration.

If you did not use CCMA you will need to contact Atlassian support directly. They can run database scripts directly against your Cloud instance to update the links.

Ah gotcha. Yes they are both in the same ORG, but my Prod Confluence was a copy of my Dev Confluence... so not a direct result of the migration assistant.

Jira was the more important one so if I have to open a ticket for Confluence no problem.

Thanks again... you were very helpful.
