I wanted to steer a user directly to a spot in my documentation
I added the anchor macro with the name latest_multi_var_multi_list
It seems pretty difficult to then create the URL for the anchor I inserted
I was hoping when I opened the doc as a user I would somehow be able to right click on that spot and copy the URL, but It turns out I have to know the URL of the page-name and know the anchor name and glue them together manually to create the URL ?
To do this I need to have the document open for editing so I can copy the anchor name...
Am I missing something here?
Hi @Bill OLeary
for setting the anchor please read the instructions written here
It depends on where you are linking from:
Anchor locationLink syntax for anchorExamples - you are right when you link from another page you have to insert page name first than anchor name in advanced field - in your example:
your page name#latest_multi_var_multi_list
Same page | #anchor name | #bottom #important information |
Page in same space | page name#anchor name | My page#bottom My page#important information |
Page in different space | spacekey:page name#anchor name | CONFCLOUD:My page#bottom CONFCLOUD:My page#important information |
Fabienne, Thanks for the answer...
I think I wasn't clear enough, I am wanting to direct a non-confluence customer to this anchor, so it has to be the full URL of the myconfluence/page/anchor and that seems quite a chore to get right...
I'm always afraid that magic PAGE# will change on me too :)
I was hoping when I added the anchor I'd be able to somehow see it when browsing the myconfluence/page, right click on it and pick up the link to the actual URL

Oh ok - but this can work too! Create the anchor link insert the somewhere (best would be on your personal space) - check out if it works by clicking - and copy it!
There you can find out the idea behind how the links in browser is created! I remember that that there is repetition of page name in link....
